Daily Note

Hello! 

  1. We will run through our current event activity
     
  2. We will briefly review what we've learned about computer organization so far. We are almost done with the first section!!
  3. We will review persistent storage
  4. We will review registers in the CPU
  5. We will review the control unit
     
  6. Here we will stop for your questions. You will also be reminded about our class discussion board
     
  7. We are going to take one of many reviews of the machine instruction cycle
  8. We wil review the operating system
  9. We will review Application software
     
  10. We will then cover a really interesting topic: Data representation
    1. How a file is stored on a computer
    2. How an image is stored in a computer
    3. The way in which data is represented in the computer.

 

 

A little less comfortable

Content

You must understand the standards at the correct level (look at the command terms). You should be able to not only memorize the actual content, but also please understand it. The key thing here is can you transfer your understanding from what you you know to an unknown context. I will be asking you many questions about this. 

Process

You should be revising every evening. I am most interested in your questions and answers to in-class questions. If you ask a question on our class discussion board, so much the better!  The key thing here is do I see you demonstrating effort to understand. Of course, it is also important what I don't see. I hope I do not see you distracted or very tired during class. I hope I do not see you working on something for another class or distracted into your phone.

At the end of this lesson you must understand this content thoroughly. You should aim for not just memorize the parts of a computer, but to see how they work together.
