Daily Note

  1. Welcome back!
  2. We are virtual today, please keep your camera's on for the very start of class so I can see you and say hi.
  3. I'm waiting for a few more students to take the networking test before I give the results back.
  4. I need to discuss some changes in the IB tests for your class.
    1. HL students click here for your "normal" assessment criteria
    2. SL students click here for your "normal" assessment criteria
      1. You will not be tested on paper 2
      2. This means for SL students paper 1 and your IA will count for a larger percentage of your grade
      3. This means for HL students paper 1 and your IA will count more towards your final grade.  You will still need to write paper 3.
      4. I will still teach you some material for web science
  5. We are going to jump into resource management You should get really curious about operating systems.

A little less comfortable

Process

You should be revising our content for 20 minutes each day. As you learning about resource management  you should be asking yourself how you can apply your understanding (how do I go from theoretical to practical). I would love to hear you ask, "How can we use this information practically?".

Product

As you are learning you should be taking notes, and developing a cookbook or spellbook. Most system administrators have a book of hints and tips they keep with them. You should have a digital text file or written notebook with helpful reminders to understand the deeper parts of your system.

Content

At the end of the day, you should be able to apply your understanding of operating systems to issues to solve problems. You must understand how to view and manage complexity from an operating system.

Our Big idea

The big idea for today is Resource management.

The essential questions for this topic are:

How does your computer manage competition for limited resources?

It takes time to explore and really understand a big idea. If you want to
learn more about resource management (which is connected to today's daily note), please click here .

We are learning this because as a designers must understand scientific and technical innovation. Designers use systems, models, methods, and processes to solve problems.
